Meetinghouse Sign!
Not many miles away from the all-but concealed sign in the last page, there is another meeting which has a sign I wish other meetings would copy, or at least emulate.
It's Gwynedd Meeting, which is located right next to US Highway 202, a busy regional artery. Gywnedd is an old meetinghouse, set back from the road amid beautiful grounds and surrounded by tall trees. It would be very easy to miss the meetinghouse as one drives by. But in fact, few passersby fail to notice it, because of its magnificent sign, which sits right next to the road:
This sign is big. It's bold. It is professionally done. It stands
out as colorful without being gaudy.
Further, at the risk of being obvious, let me underline two other remarkable
features:
First, it says the Outreach guerilla's "Magic Words": "Visitors
Welcome."
And Second, it points out that there are two meetings on
First Day morning; which is to say, Gwynedd is a going concern, after 300+ years. No
Secret Society of Friends here!
Kudos to Gwynedd!
